I try to attend the auto show every year. Why? It’s for the cars of course. It’s always exciting to see new and upcoming cars, concept cars and the limited edition exotics and classics. What’s not to like about it? As a car buff it’s time well spent.
This year however, I was invited to the Canadian International Auto Show’s VIP party. I was invited to visit the auto show a day before it opened to the general public. All courtesy of Ameer Khan of Acura Sherway. A formal night out checking out all the cars before the general public? Whats not to like!?
After hanging out with the Twitter folk at Real Sports, we decided to visit the Metro Toronto Convention Center for the Auto Show.
Imagine being part of the invited crowd invited by Acura - the crowd there to support the launch of the most talked about car of this year’s Auto Show. (Any other statement to refute this is BS).
What a surreal moment - with the food and drinks of course by our side. As the night progressed we had a blast walking from booth to booth - networking with the industry and media folk present amongst us as well.
What was a bit odd about this party however was a noticeable number of escorts present during the night. Oh well - I guess that’s become the ‘norm’ now.
Highlights for me:
The Acura NSX - this car is drop dead gorgeous! - I'm glad Acura brought it back!
Bugatti Veyron (never seen one present during an auto show before)
McLaren MP4-12C (never seen one present during an auto show before)
The original Mercedes-Benz SLS with gull wing doors.
The Pagani Zonda R (limited edition and the only one in North America!)
Ferrari 458 Italia
Aston Martin One-77
Tuned Audi R8
And the always fabulous Nissan GTR
After walking around for about three hours, completely exhausting ourselves we finally decided to call it a night. This year’s auto show however has set the benchmark so high for me - I’m not sure how I plan to attend the 2013 auto show. This year's line up for the exotic cars was BEYOND Epic! Absolutely worth the visit!
Be sure to check out the Auto Show this year and share your thoughts!
PS: The NSX goes off the display today and back to Acura!
BONUS: As close as I could get to the NSX!
